A Message from the President: Observing Veterans Day
Dear Seattle University Community,
Seattle University will close on Tuesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. This is a time to honor and express our deep gratitude to all who have served and continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces. We are especially grateful to the veterans, active-duty service members, and military-connected families within our own Seattle University community—our students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Their commitment to service exemplifies the Jesuit values at the heart of our mission and we thank them for their sacrifice and dedication to the common good.
As we pause to reflect on the significance of this day, let us continue to support and accompany veterans and their families, both on our campus and in the broader community.
Respectfully,
Eduardo M. Peñalver
President

A New Salt & Straw will open next month across from Pike Place Market. It marks the chain's third opening in the Puget Sound this year. It is 2,453-square-foot and is about twice the size of the average Salt & Straw ice cream parlor, per the company. They are known for their ecletic and wild flavor combos. They have a special one lined up already, called the Pike Sundae. It's sour-cream-and-horseradish gelato with salted apple compot, topped with smoked salmon "snow," candied salmon saviar and a dill tuile.

Seattle University Theatre Program presents "Independence"
The Seattle University Theatre Program presents: Independence By Lee Blessing, Directed by Brennan Murphy Previews November 12& 13 Performances November 14-15 and 20-23 Three sisters. One mother. A lifetime of unresolved chaos. In Lee Blessing’s razor-sharp comedy-drama, the walls of a small-town home contain decades of family dysfunction, bitter truths, and the complicated bonds that refuse to break. When these four women collide, their fierce love and fiercer resentments ignite in explosive confrontations that are both hilarious and heartbreaking. Independence explores the messy, beautiful reality of sisterhood—how the people who know us best can wound us deepest, and how family ties, no matter how frayed, remain unshakeable. A powerful examination of women navigating independence while trapped in the gravity of home. Tickets: General Public $12, Faculty/Staff $10, Student $6 Tickets available here: Ludus - Seattle University Theatre Program
