Did You Know?
A Newborn orca was spotted with Northwest's endangered J Pod. The J pod of orcas has been especially active in Central Puget Sound a few weeks ago. The SeaDoc Society and San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance first spotted the orca baby on September 18th in Saratoga Passage, between Whidbey and Camano islands.The baby orca was seen again the next day by the Center for Whale Research, which had noticed in early September that the mother appeared to be pregnant. According to SeaDoc, the mother is believed to be 18-year-old J42, also known as “Echo.”

Join University Ministry as we head to Discovery Park on October 18th for a retreat in every day life. We will meet on campus at 8AM, returning around 2:30. We will explore themes of ecological spirituality, connecting with nature in every day life, and reflection on your relationship with the natural world. Transportation and snacks will be provided. Undergraduate Awards for Conference Travel or Research - Fall Deadline 10/31
Undergraduate students from all disciplines (and both SU campuses) are invited to submit an application to receive funding awards for conference travel and student-led research projects. Awards are offered every quarter through Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons; the next deadline is October 31, 2025.
