A New Salt & Straw will open next month across from Pike Place Market. It marks the chain's third opening in the Puget Sound this year. It is 2,453-square-foot and is about twice the size of the average Salt & Straw ice cream parlor, per the company. They are known for their ecletic and wild flavor combos. They have a special one lined up already, called the Pike Sundae. It's sour-cream-and-horseradish gelato with salted apple compot, topped with smoked salmon "snow," candied salmon saviar and a dill tuile.

The pandemic highlighted significant opportunities for faculty to engage with local communities, including K-12 schools experiencing learning loss. Dr. Morris will argue that embedding research and teaching in real-world community service can enrich both scholarship and societal impact. By aligning academic work with community needs, universities can strengthen their relevance and deepen their contributions to society.
